Pedro Sepúlveda is a Biologist and, since 2020, Head of Climate Action and Sustainability Unit in the Regional Directorate of Environment and the Sea in Madeira. The Regional Directorate has a wide range of actions in crosscutting issues like sea affairs, climate action, circular economy or waste management, being responsible for the coordination of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and the Beach Litter Monitoring Program. He is a member of the IUCN Climate Change Commission (CCC), the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) and the OSPAR Commission Beach Litter Expert Group. From June 2019 to November 2021 Pedro has acted as co-convenor of the OSPAR Convention ICG-Marine Litter, having coordinated its Region Action Plan for about a year.
