The II International Forum on Marine Litter and Circular Economy was held in Seville from 18 to 20 May 2022 with a marked participatory character in which civil society, the productive sector, research and public administration were able to jointly propose strategies to achieve waste-free oceans.
MARLICE 2022 presented as a principle structure the union of the different sectors involved in the problem of marine waste, with the aim of generating new windows of collaboration in the public-private environment, to try to align strategies in the search for solutions, giving special prominence to the circular economy.
The event was part of the United Nations Ocean Decade, which held a meeting on the sidelines.
In addition, parallel meetings of the regional marine conventions of which Spain is a signatory were held on 16 and 17, which brought together representatives of European and North African States.
The event was attended by 240 participants from 29 countries.
This second edition was coordinated by AEBAM and was supported by UNEP/PAM, the Regional Activity Center for Sustainable Consumption and Production (CAR/CPS), the OSPAR Commission, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Biodiversity Foundation, the Canarian Recycle Foundation and Ewaste, the Aquarium of Seville and the project “LIBERA: united against the littering”, created by the Biodiversity Foundation, the Canarian Recycle Foundation and Ewaste, the Seville Aquarium and the project “LIBERA: united against the etc.

IMPACT ON MEDIA
Coverage of the forum through national and regional means, sending newsletters and press releases to Agencies, digital and written media. Impact on social networks with more than 28k impressions.
SATELLITE EVENTS
MARLICE sponsors high-level meetings during the forum. Technical working groups that serve for the exchange of information, as a forum for discussion, providing guidance and advising policy frameworks.
