MARLICE: What is it?
MARLICE is an international forum on marine litter and circular economy that has been held since 2019. It is a meeting point for stakeholders in the problem of marine litter to pool knowledge and experience and find solutions to prevent and reduce the amount and impact of waste reaching the marine environment.
It is organized by the Spanish Association of Marine Garbage (AEBAM), which aims to constitute an efficient associative framework that contributes to prevent and reduce the amount and impact of waste that reaches the marine environment.
This new 2026 edition will take place in the Canary Islands, is coordinated by AEBAM and promoted by the Canary Islands Government’s Department of Ecological Transition, Climate Change and Energy within the framework of the CIRCULAROCEAN project. CIRCULAROCEAN is a territorial cooperation project approved in the first call for proposals of the INTERREG VI-D MAC (Madeira-Azores-Canary Islands) Programme 2021–2027, with code 1/MAC/2/2.6/0023, and 85% co-financed by the ERDF.
