Description

After exploring the new possibilities of data collection (previous session), the data must be analysed to get a picture of the current situation and future evolution, what and how can we achieve these goals?

We will explore the current situation of data analysis and the possibilities that new emerging tools (neural networks, deep learning, etc.) can provide to better narrow down the results and adequately focus the solutions at all levels (local, regional, national, transnational).

Programme

12:00 Brief Introduction by the Chair.

12:10- Data analysis to advance on the Mediterranean marine litter challenge. Estibaliz López-Samaniego – Asociación Vertidos Cero//UNEP/MAP

12:20- Artificial intelligence implementation. Isabel Coleto – Talantia SL

12:30- Observatorio LIBERA. Sara Güemes – Proyecto LIBERA

12:40- Proyecto MINKE. Vanessa Shara Salvo– EO Scientist – Institut de Ciencies Marinas – Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (ICM-CSIC).

12:50- New tools to understand marine litter. Manuel Árias – EO Scientist – Institut de Ciencies Marinas – Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (ICM-CSIC).

13.00. Round table with speakers and audience participation

Through an organized debate with the participation of the speakers and the audience, pre-defined questions will be raised regarding gaps, needs, and potential improvements.
