José Luis Gómez Gesteira has a Degree and PhD in Marine Biology (University of Santiago de Compostela) and obtained a PhD in Physics (EPhysLab – University of Vigo). He worked as a full-time researcher for more than ten years, participating in different projects related to marine resources, marine pollution, and climate change. He also worked as Biological Technical assistance in a fishing guild for two years. Since May 2007, he has been working at CETMAR, where he is a Technician in the Department of Control and Management of Marine Environment and Resources.
