Marisa Gouveia is a research technician at MARE-Madeira, working in marine ecology and environmental monitoring. Her work focuses on the application of geospatial analysis and remote sensing technologies to support the study and conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems. With a background in Ecology, she specializes in data acquisition using UAVs, ROVs, and AUVs, as well as in the processing and analysis of high-resolution spatial datasets. Her work supports habitat mapping, biodiversity assessments, and the interpretation of ecological patterns in complex and often remote environments, contributing to data-driven approaches in marine conservation. Within this context, she is currently involved in the Free-LitterAT project, where she contributes to the development and implementation of scalable methodologies for the monitoring and mitigating of marine litter in Atlantic coastal environments. This includes field data collection and the application of spatial tools to support the understanding of marine debris distribution and dynamics.
